In October, November and December we’ll be studying Lessons of faith from Joshua.  Lessons were written by Barna Magyarosi , executive secretary of the Inter-European Division and chair of the Biblical Research  Committee of the division. He writes, "Though the book of Joshua was written more than three millenia ago, the world in which we live today is not so different from that of Joshua's in its spiritual challenges."

The last chapter of Deuteronomy tells us that "Moses died there in the land of Moab and since then there has not been  a prophet in Israel like him, whom the Lord knew face to face.;  Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses."  Deuteronomy 34:5-9.

In  Joshua 1:1-7 the Lord tells Joshua after the death of Moses to "arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving them . . . . As I was with Moses so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you."

The Book of Joshua tells us of the faithfulness of God to His promise and the experiences of Israel as they journeyed and settled in the land of Caanan.
